Prostate & Kidney Workshop Jan 2012

The programme for the 2 day workshops is shown below:

Advanced Prostatectomy Workshop  - Thursday 2nd February 2012

The prospective time table is at the lower part of this page. Attendees can receive 6 CME points for this workshop.

The prostatectomy workshop will utilise local experts for the faculty. The workshop will involve a moderated live case followed by interactive video discussion with detailed step-by-step analysis. There will be point-counter-point discussions initiated by the faculty on how to optimise techniques and improve outcomes. Video presentations will be of the faculty’s own pre-recorded material.

TOPICS

  • Planning the operation: using prostate mapping template biopsies and multiparametric MRI
  • Assistant - different approaches and requirements
  • Port site positions
  • Ergonomic robotics
  • Bladder neck dissection - normal / post TURP / median lobe
  • Vas and seminal vesicle dissection - thermal / athermal
  • Control of pedicle - assistant or robotic Hem-O-Lok, vascular tie, suture
  • Nerve sparing approaches - antegrade/retrograde
  • Grades of nerves sparing (I-IV):  intra, inter, extra fascial, non-nerve sparing
